Here are the top takeaways coming out of Friday’s practice and locker room availability at Redskins Park:
1) Niles Paul is questionable. The tight end is one of 12 players listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings; he suffered a concussion two weeks ago against the Dallas Cowboys. Paul practiced Wednesday but didn’t participate Thursday or Friday.
“He’s a guy we have to get through the protocol and make sure he’s okay before we even think about activating him,” Coach Jay Gruden said. “We’ll probably get the official word [Friday] afternoon or first thing [Saturday] morning.”
Paul, who didn’t play in Sunday’s win at the Seattle Seahawks, said Wednesday that he would be honest with team officials if he felt any concussion-like symptoms after returning to practice. Gruden said if Paul gets cleared Friday, he wouldn’t be concerned that Paul missed the last two practices leading up to the game.
“Niles has been here and knows the system, been in the meetings, and he’s prepared if he is allowed to play — or if he can play, I should say,” Gruden said. “So that’s not a concern as far as that’s concerned.”
